Mindworks was started in 2010 by Kevin Russell, a jobseeker and Mental Health Service User, who was having difficulty in obtaining employment.
Kevin reasoned that his Mental Health situation was having a negative impact upon his chances of finding work - a reasoning verified by speaking with other Service Users in the same situation. So he founded Mindworks, with a view to going some way to alleviating this at a local level.
After bringing this up at a Service User Group run by Bradford District NHS Care Trust (BDCT), of which Kevin is a member, he was soon directed to Lynne Ash, Manager of Wellbeing Services in Keighley (also part of BDCT), with whom a team was put together to provide support to set Mindworks up, comprising of Lynne, Kevin, and Paul Thompson and Deb Pickles (Vocational Workers with Wellbeing Services).
A grant was soon secured from Bradford Metroplitan District Council, to help with start up, and this was used to obtain equipment and items to promote the service.
As part of our service to employers, we aim to:
Promote positive mental health attitudes in the workplace, by running workshops for employers;
Promote the ideals of the Mindful Employer Charter amongst employers;
Provide support to employers via regular Local Employer Support Networks.
